Amy was commissioned in 2005 by The Holocaust Center to write Mazel dealing with the true experiences of the Eastern European Jewish survivors living in Pittsburgh and premiered November 2006 at The Pittsburgh Jewish Theatre AEA.

The world premier of Amy Hartman’s play “Mazel” began its debut run on November 11th, 2006 at Jewish Theater of Pittsburgh. Directed by Marty Giles, Mazel portrays a Pittsburgh family in which Holocaust memories kept secret create bitter family conflict – until an unlikely angel intervenes. The play is provocative, compelling, funny, sad – ultimately hopeful.
