The world premier of Amy Hartman’s play “Mad Honey ” began its first run at the Bloomington Playwrights Project on April 26, 2007.

Mad Honey is a hilarious (often terrifying) romp of Classical Greek proportions. It is 1952 in New Hope, Pennsylvania, and Stewart loses his scholarship to Harvard for poisoning the high school bullies with a hallucinogenic honey he creates for the school science fair. Once Stewart gets a taste of his own concoction, a beautiful oracle appears to him and sends him on an outrageous odyssey. Playwright Amy Hartman has crafted MAD HONEY from bits of inspiration gathered from historical research, classical mythology and other fantastic stories she has consumed over the years. The result is a play that compels, confounds and certainly entertains.
